.
I don’t! Instead, I explain to them what they will be receiving with the time allotted. Come up with a plan to have them come back for a mini fill in a couple of days or an extended fill for their next appointment. Don’t waste your time or your client's time if you’re both there and ready, right?
More times than not your client doesn’t realize that they are needing to schedule for a different service (full set versus a fill). If you educate your client they will know for the next time.
.
If they are a repeat offender then that is when you will need to be direct and make sure your client understands the difference between your services and what services they are expected to book based on retention or however you have structured your services. If it's an intentional boundary pusher, ditch the client.
